Hi, I recently tore apart a 307 take out of a '70 Chevelle. My understanding is that this engine should have a 9:1 compression ratio in stock form. What I found was flat pistons with 4 small valve relief’s and 3927185 cylinder heads (70 cc). Blown head gasket is most likely culprit but valves, pistons or rings could be open or massively not sealing (burnt, broken or damaged). A leak down test will help you pinpoint .
